Telephone Recorders.
Phone recorders are used to record telephones by obtaining the voice directly from the phone line. Most of  recorders at Spyville.com work in the following manner. The phone recorders connect to the phone jack. They can record all phones connected to that line ( See Example #1). Most all of the phone recorders work on Voice Activation. This means that when the phone is picked up the recorder will begin recording and when the phone is hung up the recording will stop (See Example #2). There are also phone recorders that will record from only the phone that they are connected to ( See example #3) . These  work by connecting to the handset (cable between the phone and the hand set) They then use voice activation to record when someone talks into the handset. This type are used for desk phones where the user will activate the recorder. You should be aware that recording phone conversations and / or recording people without their permission may be against the law in your state. Please check with your local authorities before ordering.

Example 1: If the phone number is 555-1212 and there are 4 phones connected to that line the phone recorder will record all the phones as long as they use that same phone number.
Example 2: Voice activation is called by several different names. These include VOR, VRS, VAS, VOX, ARS,  AOR. Each of these mean the same thing. The recorder if equipped will be in a stand-by state until there is a voice or sound present. The recorders will then exit the stand-by mode and begin to record. When there is no longer voice or sound present they will return to the stand-by mode and wait for the next voice activation event. When using on the phone line most voice activated recorders will begin to record when the phone is picked up. Some recorders have a delay in the recording of approximately 2-3 seconds while the exit the stand-by mode.
Example 3: This type of phone recorder as usually used on cell phones and  desk top phone. The recorder is on the desk near the user and it is turned on to record when the phone user would like to record. They are also used for customer service recordings and for note taking. This type of phone recorder can be either voice activated or user activated.
